Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
  • To all of our hard working volunteers who made IBR 2002 happen, THANK YOU!
  • To the contestants, who spent hours on their knees selling raffle tickets, played around with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, and ran through a grueling schedule with beefy and bearish good nature, and helped us raise so much money for our beneficiaries - THANK YOU!
  • To the judges, who worked the same hours as the contestants - and did a great job - THANK YOU!
  • To the entertainers and ASL interpreters who kept us laughing all weekend - THANK YOU!
  • To our auction donors, Bears Invade the Castro merchants, sponsors and everyone who simply said 'yes' - THANK YOU!
  • To Ron Suresha and the authors for their LitBEARary contributions - THANK YOU!
  • and To all of our great, ursine guests from around the world, who made it all worthwhile with their big bear hugs, wide grins and warm fellowship - THANK YOU!
It took us ALL to make IBR 2002 a success. ...and from what I've heard, it WAS a great success Everyone I encountered had good things to say about this year's event. And almost without exception they commented that everything ran like clockwork. (Well, as long as it APPEARED to run like clockwork)

All of you have helped bears meet from far and wide and no doubt IBR is again responsible for some life-changing experiences for those joining the bear community. Most importantly -- we've raised a ton of money for our beneficiaries: AGUILAS, the Tri-City Health Center and the Online Policy Group.

...and in case you were unaware, there were other indirect beneficiaries of IBR.... Many of the Ramada Hotel employees had been laid off since the beginning of January (the doorman and our maid for example) So, all of you who came to town and booked a room helped them out too!

Here's a photo from the check distribution for our benficiaries:

  • AGUILAS

  • Tri-City Health Center

  • Online Policy Group

Each received a check for $5,000!
