Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
- To all of our hard working volunteers who made IBR 2003 happen, THANK YOU!
- To the contestants, who spent hours on their knees selling raffle tickets, played around with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, and ran through a grueling schedule with beefy and bearish good nature, and helped us raise so much money for our beneficiaries - THANK YOU!
- To the judges, who worked the same hours as the contestants - and did a great job - THANK YOU!
- To Blake, The Whoa Nellies, and ASL interpreters who kept us laughing all weekend - THANK YOU!
- To our auction donors, Bears Invade the Castro merchants, sponsors and everyone who simply said 'yes' - THANK YOU!
- To Ron Suresha and the authors for their "Paws for Words" contributions - THANK YOU!
- To Lynn Ludwig for being our official photographer - THANK YOU!
- and To all of our great, ursine guests from around the world, who made it all worthwhile with their big bear hugs, wide grins and warm fellowship - THANK YOU!
It took us ALL to make IBR 2003 a success. ...and from what I've heard,
it WAS a great success. Everyone I encountered had good things to say
about this year's event... Walk-up Registration was a bit hairy (in a bad way) for a while, but we managed to pull it off. And next we'll be more prepared for it, too!
All of you have helped bears meet from far and wide and no doubt IBR is again responsible for some life-changing experiences for those joining the bear community. Most importantly -- we've raised a ton of money for our beneficiaries: The Aurora Dawn Foundation, The Center of SF, and The National Center for Lesbian Rights.
Congratulations to the IBR 2003 Titleholders:
Mr. International Bear: Klaus Regel from Cologne, Germany (Pictured)
Mr. International Daddy Bear: Roger Spencer from Cincinnati, OH
Mr. International Grizzly Bear: David Mendelson from Seattle, WA
Mr. International Cub: Ian Urwin from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, UK.
Here's a photo from the check distribution for our benficiaries:
- Aurora Dawn Foundation
- National Center for Lesbian Rights
- "The Center" of San Francisco
Each received a check for $8,000!
